FTC Publishing has been developing resources to aid educators in the successful implementation of technology into their classroom, with resources for products such as PowerPoint, Moodle, Google, and Adobe’s Digital School Collection etc. FTC’s Interactive game templates have been a staple in many classrooms for years and it continues to develop products to promote the use of interactive games to stimulate student’s learning and achievement.

Project Goals:

Client required a web application where students and teachers can register themselves to share their ideas through videos, images and audio. Place of social networking where teachers and students are encouraged to create curriculum related videos.

Project Description:

The idea behind VRLibrary is online content sharing.  Purpose of data sharing is purely education and can also be used for marketing and advertisement in future. VR (virtual) a combination of Wikipedia, publishing of YouTube and the functionality of Orkut/Facebook, will make users to feel it the most innovative idea ever for social networking for teachers-students with fun and education. This sole application provides students a visual reference library including more than 14,000 words and definitions, phrases, and concepts, many of which have an accompanying video created by students and/or teachers.

Challenges:

To build an application fully compatible on all OS platforms as well as allow multiple LDAP logins at once. Develop the application on multiple environments like dev, live, demo, myvrspot simultaneously under very firm security privileges and without any chance to miss the data and timeline.

Solution:

FTC collaborated with Survik to develop their idea. Survik implemented the application in PHP 5.2.9, with Joomla 5.5 and used database as MySOL 5.0.32. Survik helped FTC to convert their vision of the VRLibrary project into reality. The process vision was based on a time-phased planning process construct. Developed application has all the features that enables students and teachers to share their ideas among people from other districts lucratively. Survik employed the best hierarchy level in application. Higher authorities have all the rights to add/update/delete its lower authority. We delivered various correlated modules mainly student module, teacher Module, master Search, CSS module, Consortium module, district module, super admin module and all library search. These modules have the ability to provide all the required and aforementioned functionalities to run application smoothly. This application is fully secure and safe from unwanted and malicious content as every upload is required approval from its superior in hierarchy. FTC has planned further to engage Survik for extended plan of VRLibrary to make it more classy and valuable.

Project Benefits:

Survik Solution facilitated most appropriate and user friendly interface for VRLibrary for users. It added another sole product in the list of FTC. This product has enough potential to attract customers and generate revenues for FTC in this internet era. This product will improve the knowledge and interest of students in their curriculum. The solution not only paved the way for revenue generation but also led to a large base of registered users to cross sell FTC’s other & new pipelined products. This is one of the unique ideas ever implemented and Survik has beeen makinges it possible for FTC to bring true web to the classroom.
